Very Cold The Next 48 Hours , Watching For Potential Snow This Weekend, Heading into Active Times!!

3 Jan

For today partly cloduy skies, very storng winds and steady or slightly falling temps are expected, stuck in the low to mid 20s, NW wind 20-30 gusts to 40 reel feels in the mid teens at times slight chance of flurries

Tonight will be BRUTALL cold, lows ranging from near 0 over the Poconos, around 5 over NW NJ 6-10 NE and Central NJ and 12-16 over coastal areas, wind chill values as low 0 to – 5 at times as gusty NW winds continue, slight chance of flurries

Wednesday, highs will rise into the low to mid 20s, to around 30 along the imediate coast, winds will decline. Chnace of flurries

Wednesday night lows 10-20 with a chance of snow flurries

Thursday we start to moderate, with highs in ranging 35-42 around average for this time of year sunny skies lows 20-32

Friday the moderation continues, with highs 42-47 lows 25-34 clear skies

Saturday will get quite warm, but dont get used to it!  Highs 50-55, a cold front will come through at night with temps falling 28-34, this cold front may set up a potentiall interesting Sunday

Here is Sunday afternoon, a few models show an area of low prseure riding the cold front, with plenty of cold air coming in

Sunday night

Here is Sunday night, a moderate snow storm is impacting the area with 2-4 even 3-6 inches, a few models are showing this now so its somthing to keep an eye on. Right now this doesnet look too likley but the trend is our friend so far, it will depend on how fast the cold front is moving in the end, right now just rain and snow showers are in the forecast but we shall see

If this storm happens it will mess up a potential storm on the 10th and kick it OTS possibly, if this doesent happen then we have a storm to watch around the 10th, which is being modeld as a noreaster but tracking to close to the coast giving a lot of rain ATTM, if this storm happens while most likley rain or a sloppy mess, it should help the set up for future times.

And if that is not enough theres another storm around the 13th and 14th, which Piers Corbyn (some British pshyco who can apparently see into the future) called for. He called for all or snow storms last winter months ahead of time and calls for a major snow event Jan 13-14th which is now being modeled.

The storm on the 13-14th has the best set up as there is strong support for the NAO to go negaitve around that time period , the AO should already be negative by then as it is dropping now.  I am not going by the models here, im going by real observations that are occuring right now. The stratosphere has warmed 30-35 degrees in the matter of 4 days and this is what we need to displace the Polar Vortex over Greenland. The pattern change is imminent and occuring right before our eyes and that storm on the 10th may be waht we need to get a block in the Atantic, while nothing is 100% …..my confidence is increasing greatly …..for a very good 2nd half of winter, for snow lovers
