The next 7 days are overall going to be sunny dry and tranquil with temperatures around or slightly above normal at times.
There will be a ridge of high pressure stuck over the eastern US which will lead to sunny and dry weather
Today and Wednesday highs will be around 55 and lows 35-40 which is overall slightly below normal
Thursday will warm up a bit to 55-60 then Friday we return to around the 55 mark and lows in the lower 40s
Not much will change this weekend with sunny skies and temperatures in the lower to mid 50s and lows in the upper 30s to low 40s
A big storm like the October snowstorm we just got tends to change the pattern a bit and allow a quiet period.
Monday a cold front comes along and that will be a pattern changer back to a stormy and colder pattern
The reason for the upcoming dry pattern is the NAO is positive and will help establish a ridge. However towards the middle of the month the NAO is expected to go negative after being dominantly neutral to positive since Hurricane Irene, Irene flipped the pattern but is expected to flip back just in time for the winter
The AO is forecast to go negative , right now its positive which means the cold air is stuck in Canada and can’t come south , but when it goes negative mid – late month the dam will break and all the cold arctic and Canadian air will pour into the eastern half of the nation
A cold front will drop SE and stall SE of us with areas of low pressure possibly riding along it next week and could be quite wet
And with a colder pattern like this coming in I wouldn’t be surprised to see more early season snow and a white Thanksgiving , its quite possible especially being we had a white Halloween
