A huge swath of rain has developed overnight, meanwhile a weak area of low pressure rode through Southern NJ giving the state a period of moderate rain. Now to front is coming north and that moderate to heavy rain by DC is moving NE pretty fast. All this rain is going to move ENE leading to periods of moderate to heavy rain through the day and through tonight and even going into tomorrow. The heaviest rain will fall late this afternoon and tonight before becoming more light and showery tomorrow although tomorrow still looks quite wet not to mention COLD with highs stuck in the 40s , a brisk NW flow and showers cant rule out a few snowflakes due to extremely cold air aloft but chances are its going to be too dry for precipitation by the time the upper atmosphere gets cold enough. 1.5-2.5 inches of rain expected
Everything clears out by tomorrow evening , skies will clear and temps will fall into the upper 20s! and Friday while sunny will only reach the mid 40s (45-47) and lows will fall 25-30 degrees
We start to warm up Saturday ahead of a cold front but I want to stress that this is a a brief warm up with temps in the mid 50s, Sunday will be the warmest day with highs in the low 60s but cloudy , the cold front will cross overnight. Monday the warmth is gone again with highs in the low to mid 50s. By Tuesday the front will be south of us and highs will return to the 40s and unsettled conditions will return as the front stalls south of us and low pressures ride along it , familiar to this week but much colder with highs in the mid 40s Tuesday – Thursday with constant chances of rain and probably another significant rain event
Thanksgiving looks quite wet and cold with temperatures in the mid 40s lows in the 30s.
Longer range looks like another period of temperature roller coaster ride to end November and going into December but the SE ridge weakens and troughs becomes a bit more dominant
