We have a very warm day today with record high temperatures in jeporady and highs near 70 degrees for some!!! Im looking for 65-70 area wide. I expect a decent amount of sun but could become mostly cloudy as the afternoon progresses
Tonight will become overcast and be quite warm with lows 49-55 degrees, is above our normal daily highs now!! Also cant rule out a shower as a cold front approaches from the west and a developing storm in the SE starts to move due north
You can see the storm developing over the SE , there is a lot of moisture over us too but in the upper levels of the atmosphere. The mid and low levels are stil very dry from a departing High pressure which should keep things from getting too cloudy today
By morning we will be overcast, with an increasing chance of showers in the afternoon
You can see its a pretty big storm over the SE but a lot of that rain will pass well west of us. Our rain is curretny developing from Northern Florida, Georgia and South Carolina
That will get here by tomorrow night and I expect a steady moderate to heavy rain from tomorrow evening through early Wednesday morning before drier and colder air starts getting pulled into the storm from the West
We got a general agreement that the area will see .50-1.50 inches of rain, with .50-.75 expected along the coast, .75-1.00 over central and northeastern NJ and 1 to locally 1.25 over NW NJ and 1 to locally 1.5 0ver NE PA. I expect a band of moderate to heavy rain to move SSW TO NNE through the region
It couldve been worse, as the low was originally expected to track up the coast and that would have left us in the 3-4 inches now expected over the Ohio Valley. Still with the ground as saturated as it is, 1 inch or rain will still cause some minor flooding problems, and a gusty SE wind isnt going help the cause.
Everything clears out by Wednesday afternoon but with colder condtions, about 20 degrees colder than what we have now. Highs Wednesday Thursday and Friday will ranges from 48-52, not all that cold but cold compared to how its been
Friday a cold front will come through and set the stage for a cold weekend. Highs on Saturday expected to be upper 30s to low 40s over NW areas mid 40s for NE NJ and upper 40s for the coast and lows in the mid 20s to low 30s. Basiacally the same on Sunday maybe a few degrees warmer and Monday will be the same again with highs in the mid to upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s to mid 30s
A little bit in the longer range, ANOTHER cold front comes through Tuesday with highs dropping back into the upper 30s to low 40s and Wednesday highs are not expected to get out of the 30s besides the immediate coast with rain and or snow showers possible.
Clearly big changes are coming and winter weather is not far away!!
