We have a very cold Sunday today, lows fell al low as 15 for some spots and a general range of 15-24.
For highs today, looking at a range of 29-35, many NW areas will not even reach freezing and lows will range 15-24 again from NW to SE. tonight we have clearer sky’s to work with so it may even be colder than it was last night.
Tomorrow we start to moderate with highs starting off 15-25 but moderating to 42-46 for highs as high pressure moves off shore and more of a SW wind develops ahead of a cold front
A weak cold front will come through tomorrow night, with a slight chance of a rain or snow shower but I am expecting a mainly dry frontal passage with lows dropping 25-30
Tuesday will be a bit colder with highs 40-45 and Tuesday night our next storm system moves in. It looks like it will start off as a mix of rain and snow late Tuesday night into very early Wednesday morning as lows drop into the low 30s before a changeover to all rain as warm air invades . No accumulations are expected besides maybe NW NJ and NE PA where they may pick up a coating
Wednesday the low will track north of us so that will lead to a southerly wind that will quickly kick the cold air out and change to all rain for everyone by 8-9 am Wednesday and could be a pretty significant rain event, although not the CRAZY2-4 inch rainstorms we have become used to. Looking for .50-.75 at this time, the rain will last through Thursday morning
Thursday the storm will start to move out with gradual clearing and falling temps from the low 50s through the 40s. The cold front will come through and stall south of us over the Delmarva thanks to the slight and misplaced SE ridge THIS is when things become interesting for Christmas Eve
The cold front will stall south of us, so the cold air will be able to come down and fill in, meanwhile a weak low pressure may develop along this front and it will track along the cold front.
Right now no phase of the 2 jet streams looks likely so this could slip harmlessly Out to sea which is a very possible solution right now.
However, if the front stalls where I think it will, it will bring a swath of light to moderate snow to Philly northbound. This is not a major snowstorm by any means, looking at a light to moderate event possible here, for those looking for a white Christmas it is very possible right now, I cannot guarantee being its 6 days away but there’s the chance. Right now the timing looks to be the 23 or 24thA much bigger storm is possible a mere 3 days later around the 26th-27 (sound familiar?). The first storm will help set up for the second storm and perhaps create some blocking which we havent had, this would be a classic nor’easter, where the low develops in the Gulf of Mexico then rides the east Coast. This storm has a ton of potential, but its wayy to far out for any details at all. Just keep it in the back of your mind that it could be a very white and snowy holiday season, the key phrase there is COULD BE
Here isDecember 23rd on the best model out there that is handling the pattern the best
Again, not a major storm but 1-3 or 2-4 inches , this is the storm I am focusing on right now being it’s not all that far away but this same model shows a huge storm for December 26-27th
