We are starting yet another set of mild winter days today
Today mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 40s to melt any snow we got last night, lows 27-35
There is clearly a major storm developing down south, right now it is stuck down there, but an incoming northern stream disturbance will pick it up and move it NE up the coast and off the NJ coast
Wednesday clouds will increase with highs 45-50 and an Easterly wind. Rain will start to over spread the area later tomorrow night and become steady and heavy, except the Poconos NW NJ Hudson Valley north ward where they could start as snow and ice , with 1-2 inches of snow and a coating of ice possible before the changeover to rain, this is due to high pressure stubborn to the north that will trap cold air in the Appalachians
There could be a VERY BRIEF start as snow or sleet south and east of there even to the coast but it would be very brief and lead to no accumulation.
Here is a preliminary map, areas in the Green are unde a flood watch for 1-1.5 inches of rain and areas in the blue are under a Winter weather advisory for a start as snow and ice for minor accumulations before a changeover to rain
It will become cold after this storm, and we have to watch for the arctic front that’s going to come through Friday, as models point to an area of low pressure developing and riding it as cold air is coming in and bringing a minor snowfall, for now im just keeping a chance of a rain or snow shower though
The weekend will be cold, with highs both days 28-35 and lows 17-24 which is slightly below average and the cold looks to stick around this time
