I start off with the radar being a rainstorm is moving in. Some areas got freezing rain and some snow over night due to high pressure to the north holding cold air in but now that high is retreating, a powerful upper low is tracking into the Great Lakes, there’s a SW wind ahead of it and there’s nothing to hold back the warm air anymore, temps are expected to rise into the upper 40s ahead of this cold front. There will be showers and periods of rain as well as drizzle today, there should end up being around .50 of rain all together, not the huge rainstorms we have been accustomed to, but if you add the 3-5 inches of snow on the ground and all the melting and washing away its like getting a 1 inch rainstorm, minor flooding and major ponding is possible because of all the liquid as well as snow clogged drains
Later this afternoon, the main area of rain over PA will swing east and bring moderate rainfall but areas of showers will and are developing ahead of the main area of rain. It should all clear out by 10-11 pm but there is Gulf moisture entrained so while its not a very big storm, it has heavy rains associated with it
The cold air behind this cold front will be held back 24 hours so tomorrow will be quite warm and sunny, with a down sloping NW wind off the Appalachian, highs are expected to range 48-54, that will kill any snow that’s left
Tuesday night the cold air will finally be on the move into the region with lows 25-32.
Wednesday should be dry and seasonal with highs in the mid 30s to around 40
Thursday a clipper will drop SE but pass north of us leaving us on the warm side with rain showers into Friday, highs Thursday should be 37-42 and Friday 45-50 ahead of the cold front
Some models show a coastal low Saturday and bring snow to the area some bring it Out to sea, its still 5 days away so i wont go into detail here but we are heading into an active weather pattern, details will be ironed out later on.
