We have a major rainstorm starting to impact the area, there was some snow and sleet last night and early this morning ahead of the warm front, but now warm air is moving in at all levels of the atmosphere as the atmospheric set up leads to a SSE wind developing and a rapid changover to rain is occuring in all locations
On the radar you can see theneres a band of light to moderate rain over PA and NJ this is the warm front that will continue to produce light to moderate rain over these locations through the day
The main area of low pressure is still well south south west over the Tennesse river valley and will track NE up the Appalachians.
That band of heavy rain to the SW will move through the area later tonight bringing moderate to heavy rain over East PA through Northern NJ, total rainfall amounts are expected to be about .50 over Southern NJ 0.75-1.25 for NYC /Philly 1-1 1/3 inches NE and Central NJ and 1-1.5 inches NW NJ and NE PA
Minor flooding is a concern as the ground is super saturated from all the rain over , well the past year and the meltdown we just had
