Well we got a nice little appetizer last night, with most of the area picking up 1 inch or so, n the high end of what was expected.
This puts northern NJ at 10 – 15 inches for the season so far, so not the warmest and most snowless winter ever anyway, and we will add more on Saturday
Today sunny with melting snow, highs 45-49 tonight clear and cold , 23-30 with similar conditions tomorrow and tomorrow night with sunny skies mild by day cold by night
Then we watch tomorrow night , as an arctic cold front will move east, it will tap into gulf moisture and light snows will break out around the area
Meanwhile, a weak coastal low will develop and enhance snow fall along the I95 corridor points east, like eastern and central NJ , PHILLY, NYC and Long Island and into New England.
So here is the fist call snow map for the forecast area
Just want to clarify that Philly is a tweener, so I have them at 1-3 inches
NYC / NE NJ – Light to moderate snow 2-4 inches, I expect more like 2-3 but can’t rule out an isolated 4 inch reading, especially east
Allentown, Lehigh Valley- Snow Shower, Coating to 2 inches, again expecting more on the low-end like a C-1 inch but with models coming in more amped up I am giving the possibility of higher amounts
Latest models are coming in more juicy giving areas in the 2-4 zone 3-6 inches and 4-8 in the 3-5 zone, so i will keep an eye, but for now im going to remain skeptical and conservative
Arctic Cold Shot:
After this storm passes a very cold air mass will build in as the polar vortex drops wayy south behind the storm system
Saturday night, clearing skies increasing NW winds , lows 10-17 wind chills near 0
Sunday, cloudy and VERY windy and blustery with a few flurries, highs 23-30 lows 9-15 wind chills near 0 in the am, 10-15 in the afternoon
Monday- Cold and sunny highs 30-35 lows 10-16
