Well today is the first day of meteorological spring, it certainly will not feel spring like today but that will change VERY soon
For today, an upper level low will influence our weather, the main shield of rain/ sleet/snow is exiting to our NE ,but drizzle and few scattered showers are possible through much of the day still, highs 42-48 with an increasing W wind this afternoon. There was a general range of .50-1.50 inches of rain , least over NYC / North Jersey, most over South NJ and Philly.
Tonight clearing skies, breezy and cold lows 23-30
Friday will start out pretty nice, partly cloudy in the AM followed by slowly increasing clouds in the afternoon, highs pretty seasonable , 47-54. Still should stay dry and fairly nice with peeks of sun through the day
But a storm currently moving east from the Rockies will dive SE and then hit the SE ridge and move NE through the Great Lakes while bombing out, a warm front will be developing to our south tomorrow which will move north tomorrow night, and spread a steady rain over the area between 8-11 pm , which will become heavy after midnight with a chance of thunderstorms
Here is later Friday night into Early AM Saturday, the warm front is coming through with moderate to heavy rain for everyone, no wintry weather what so ever with this one anywhere, there’s no high to the north to prevent the warm front from coming way north so its going to move north with no problem
Saturday morning, the warm front will move north, and there will probably be a break in the clouds and precipitation so don’t be surprised to see some sun in the morning and early afternoon noon but don’t let it fool you, its only setting up for more rain later in afternoon as it will make the atmosphere slightly unstable and set up for a line of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds.
Overall I expect .50-1.25 inches of rain out of this system and wind with the cold front as the storm rapidly bombs out NW of us, strong winds out of the SW will shift NW Saturday night and the storm will clear by midnight Saturday
