Just as we get deeper into spring and everything is growing and sprouting, especially due to the exceptionally warm first 3/4 of March, something that we weren’t able to get much of this winter starts occurring , introduction of polar air masses. Many people made the mistake of planting early , and all the trees and plants that began to bloom much earlier than usual have now slowed down exceptionally and even some plants are dying or dead now due to several recent nights around or below freezing and highs around average
Today high pressure is building down from the NW bringing a weak polar air mass down, leading to another breezy day with highs at or slightly below normal in the upper 40s interior and low to mid 50s at the coast.
Tonight we will have clear skies and light winds which will allow daytime heating to escape and lows in the low to mid 20s over NE PA, mid to upper 20s over NW NJ /Lehigh Valley, low 30s Central and NE NJ and low to mid 30s at the coast basically if your NW of I 287 and I95 a frost and or freeze is likely tonight
Tomorrow the trough will begin to exit and we will get a slight warm up to average and slightly above with highs both Tuesday and Wednesday in the low to mid 60s area wide besides the coast where upper 50s are more likely lows will still be rather chilly in the mid 30s interior to low 40s along the coast before a cold front comes through Wednesday night
Thursday and Friday as another trough builds down from the north, will again feature temperatures at or slightly below normal with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s interior to mid 50s along the coast, some upper 50s over SW NJ and lows in the upper 20s to low 30s NW NJ, NE PA, LEHIGH Valley to mid to upper 30s along the coast
Then that trough will scoot on out leading to high pressure and a weakening ridge in control for Easter weekend and a potential storm system tracks well NW of our region, leaving us on the warm side
Saturday highs should be in the upper 50s to low 60s area wide lows in upper 30s interior to upper 40s along the coast basically around normal which is becoming mild now
Easter Sunday may be warmer yet with highs in the low to mid 60s and dry with sunshine, looks like a nice Easter coming up lows in the 40s, slightly above normal, maybe some one makes a run at the upper 60s
Monday should be mild yet again before a cold front drops in either Monday or Tuesday , highs in the low to mid 60s lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s before a potential amped up trough drops south and it could be more long lasting but more on that later
So overall a pleasant week , a bit chilly at times but overall average to slightly above and no rain to speak of.
