For the first time ever for some places and a rare occurrence for others March was actually warmer than April this year!!!
Much of the eastern half of the country baked under a ridge of high pressure in March, with temperatures well above normal, with many days in the 70s, 80s and even 90s!! The last week of March the pattern took a flip, the ridge retrograded west and settled over the Rockie Mountains, leading to a dominant trough in the east with average temperatures or below average the norm, there was some warm ups thrown in but they were short-lived and not really impressive not to mention that March was so warm it would be hard to beat!!
This was the case through much of the US but especially the Midwest where the core of the heat was due to placement of the ridge
Will May end up cooler than April??? ( :
