More unsettled and wet weather is on the way for this upcoming week, but first we have one more GREAT day ahead of us in the weather department !!!
For your Sunday the sunny and warm weather will continue as a ridge and high pressure dominates the east, with highs ranging from the mid 70s along the coast to low to mid 80s elsewhere with continued sunny skies, although some high clouds may start to build in the afternoon, than tomorrow nigh increasing clouds with lows in the mid 50s to low 60s
You can see a big bulge jump north in jet stream over the Eastern US , that is a ridge of high pressure giving us this great weather and the center of high pressure is right over our area, you can see that cause the driest air and most clear air is over our area.
That big swirl off of the east coast will mean trouble for us later on but for now that high pressure is expected to remain over our area through tonight into tomorrow before moving N & E , but something has changed in the overall weather pattern, a trough is building into the west coast, and we have another trough over the north atlantic (-NAO ) and so the balance is an upper level ridge will remain over the east leading to warm air being able to come from the south through the upcoming week, instead of a trough like we had since the end of March.
The trough over the northern Atlantic will turn negative tilted (from SE TO NW) and in turn the ridge axis will be forced SE to NW so that low pressure you see spinning off the coast will be forced to move NW from off shore right into our area, and moisture from the Atlantic will start moving from SE to NW by Monday morning
You can kind of see that here, the showers well off the coast moving west towards the coast, but the low is cut off as its stuck under the ridge over the east, so that means its very slow-moving and will take its time moving NW
Here is Monday afternoon and moisture is starting to stream in from the SE with an increasing chance of showers
Monday night into Tuesday showers will fill in to the area ad remain moving SE to NW and perhaps a period of steady light to moderate rainfall , this whole system isn’t going to be a big precipitation maker, it’s going to be more a nuisance and lead to showery conditions for a few days, but again with mild conditions with highs through the period in the upper 60s to mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s and low 60s
Then a cold front comes into the equation, which will again be very slow-moving as our ridge shifts off the coast and blocks up the pattern, with small areas of low pressure riding the front so waves of showers will continue through Wednesday and Thursday.
The first of these waves looks to come Tuesday into Wednesday
Tuesday night into Wednesday
The cold front will stall over area through Thursday and so these waves of showers and potentially steady rain at times will continue to move NE over our area, highs will remain mild in the upper 60s to mid 70s and lows in the upper 5os to mid 60s under clouds and showers
Overall from Monday through Thursday I expect anywhere from 0.25-0.75 with potentially up to an inch locally
A peak into Memorial day, as you can see in the image above another ridge is expected to build into the east , so the unofficial start of summer looks to be GREAT with sunny skies and very warm temperatures Friday through Monday at this time with highs in the upper 60s mid 70s for coastal areas, unfortunately the ocean is still cold and enough to influence temperatures, and everyday we will have to watch for sea breezes and timing etc, but inland areas not far from the coast will exceed 80 every day next weekend with low to mid 80s expected for the most part but upper 80s possible for SE PA and SW NJ !!
