Well for the unofficial start of summer it’s certainly going to feel like summer!! We will have the 3 H’S , hazy, hot and humid and that chance of afternoon thunderstorms everyday. Overall though should be a nice weekend to open the pool, go to the beach or go camping and all that fun summer stuff!!
The satellite tells the whole story, a ridge dominates the eastern half of the country but with little rogue disturbances riding along the top of it, and a “cold” front to our west just stalled there. We also have another tropical system off of the SE coast AGAIN, the 2nd time in a week!! For some reason it isn’t named yet despite it having all the characteristics of a tropical storm. It wont effect land anyway, it’s just going to sit under the ridge and meander off the coast for a few days and then die off.
Theres clearly a ridge signature here , lots of heat across the east and midwest, especially west of our area, for now. That heat will build east tomorrow, with high temperatures reaching the low 80s at the shore to the mid 80s to around 90 just away from the coast!! Th Philly area has the best shot at 90, the New York City metro should stay in the mid to upper 80s due to those rouge disturbances passing just north with some more clouds , fog and a greater chance of storms, but even here only some isolated afternoon storms are expected, otherwise should be a nice day, there could be widespread morning fog due to the saturated air mass in place, that should burn off by mid morning to early afternoon.
Lows tomorrow night will be in the 60s area wide with low 60s interior to upper 60s at the coast, again can’t rule out an isolated storm ,especially for northern sections but should be a nice evening for most if not all.
Sunday a bit of a stronger disturbance will pass to our north, so there will be more clouds to deal with, along with a better chance of storms, best chance over northern areas but the whole area has a shot, and with the clouds and morning fog will come slightly lower temperatures, with highs in the upper 70s t low 80s at the shore to low to mid 80s elsewhere, still very warm and there will be sun, just not as much as Saturday. Lows will be warm ranging from the mid 60s interior and at the coast to upper 60s and low 70s in your hot spots along I95. Jut keep in mind morning fog and low clouds will be likely along the coast, so if your going to the shore you can expect to see some fog and low clouds every morning due to the humid air mass in place, but it will burn off by noon time .
You can see the ridge in the east, du to a very strong disturbance carving out a trough in the west, raising heights in the east and leadi.ng to high pressure ridge, but be warned, this is brief, this alignment will not be lasting long so enjoy the heat while you got it. But anyway storms on Sunday will be scattered in nature and most should hold off until late afternoon and evening.
Monday the ridge will remain, a warm front will come through though so scattered showers and storms will be possible, mainly in the afternoon, VERY humid conditions and highs returning to the mid to upper 80s, to low 90s for our friends to the SW around DC-Baltimore. Morning fog and low clouds once again, especially along the coast, but should burn off by early afternoon easily. Lows again in the mid 60s to low 70s!!
Tuesday a cold front will come through, continued warmth ahead of it but behind it, well you can say goodbye to the heat and say hello to a very active and unsettled pattern with temperatures around average to even below average by the middle and end of next week, with a slow-moving cold front possibly bringing several days of showers and storms, just something im keeping an eye on for now
By Tuesday night, we heave a strong and slow-moving cold front with widespread showers and storms, a NAO going DEEPLY negative, basically meaning a big upper low will develop over the North Atlantic which will send down a big trough into the east by weeks end. The trough dropping in the east makes heights rise in the west, so the alignment takes a flip back to where its been with an eastern trough and western ridge
Highs from Wednesday to Friday will range from the mid 60s to around 70 along with rain chances Wednesday and Thursday, dwindling by Friday with high presure building from the north.
