Heat is about to become a HUGE story across the US as a major heat ridge is about to take over MUCH of the Country. Get ready cause the east coast to the Rockies are entering the dog days of summer!
Our trough responsible for the cool weather since Saturday is on the way out and a HUGE ridge is building over the Rockies and the Mid West. Now the key behind this whole forecast is found up in the stratosphere. It is VERY COLD over much of the US and that in turn translates to warmth at the surface as it leads to ridging. In this case the coldest part of the stratosphere is over the Mississippi River Valley.
The heat is already cranking up in the middle of the country through the southern Plains with 90s and 100s, expect to see this A LOT over the next month at least
We have one more comfortable night before the heat takes over, tonight lows will drop into the mid 50s to low 60s
Tomorrow ridging will take over and the heat will begin. Highs will raise to the low to mid 80s over NE PA to upper 80s to low 90s for the rest lows will only fall into the mid 60s NE PA to upper 60s to low 70s for the rest
Friday we will heat up big time ahead of a “cold front” and humidity will be on the increase ,highs will sky-rocket to the upper 80s over NE PA with lower to mid 90s for the rest, upper 90s in the NYC and Philadelphia metros, at indexes ranging from the upper 90s to low 100s lows again only in the mid 60s to low 70s, can’t rule out an isolated thunderstorm in the evening
Here is Friday below
Saturday through Monday will be pretty uniform, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 80s over NE PA and low to mid 90s for the rest of the area. One thing I expect is a lot of humidity, there will be some but not oppressive as there will be more of a westerly wind more so than southerly. Lows will be in the mid 60s NE PA to upper 60s to low 70s for the rest of the area
Theres Saturday above you can see basically the whole country is under ridging and Sunday below
Going into next week we will be on the edge of the heat dome and the edge of the north atlantic trough so there will be a few weak disturbances ad temperatures in the mid 80s to low to mid 90s through next week with a chance of isolated storms here and there
You can see the heat starts getting suppressed slightly on Monday and early next week with a bit of a trough and NW flow , STILL VERY WARM
Through Mid week (4TH OF JULY IMAGE ABOVE) ^ the ridge will remain over the center of the country, we are on the NE side with mainly 80s expected Tuesday through Thursday but no real big cool downs to the 60s and 70s like we have been seeing lately
