Another heat wave has over taken the mid Atlantic and Northeast US as a Bermuda high is now well established, for the interior areas the heat wave started last week but along the coast, it started over the weekend as we had plenty of clouds to deal with from Thursday through Saturday.
Today through Wednesday will be plain brutal out there. pressure off the east coast is leading to an established SW flow, which is transporting a hot and VERY humid air mass up the east coast, which will be in place through mid-week before a strong cold front comes through Wednesday into Thursday, and that will suppress the influences of the Bermuda high.
For today, we will have highs in the lower to mid 90s with dew points in the lower to mid 70s , heat indexes will range into the upper 90s to lower 100s!\. I expect mainly sunny skies and clear conditions but with weak disturbances riding the top of the ridge, some isolates showers and storms will be possible in the late afternoon and early evening hours.
Tomorrow will be the hottest day, as we will be ahead of a cold front, the SW wind will be at its greatest, so I expect highs in the low 90s along the coast and mid to upper 90s elsewhere with dew points again in the lower to mid 70s heat indexes in the lower to mid 100s! Lows both nights will be in the upper 60s interior to mid 70s along the coast
Wednesday should be interesting, most of the day should be sunny and hot, highs in the lower to mid 90s and dew points in the low to mid 70s with heat indexes again in the upper 90s to lower 100s, but in the late afternoon and especially evening hours, a strong cold front and trough will drop south into the area, with widespread showers and thunderstorms.
The potential for severe weather will be there as there will be a lot of instability with all the heat and humidity, with the biggest threats bein hail, wind and dangerous lightning.
Wednesday late afternoon thunderstorms will start coming in from the west and northwest
I expect widespread showers and storms to last through Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.
We will begin to clear out Thursday with a BIG drop in humidity and temperatures through the weekend, all days will have highs in the low to mid 80s with sunny skies and low humidity through Monday with lows in the upper 50s interior to mid 60s along the coast!
