A cool fall air mass is now in place and will remain so dominantly through the next 10 days. The summer pattern broke down a little early this year (back in August) and so fall is taking over a little early as well
We see a deep trough in place behind the storm system and a big ridge in the west.
Today, behind the powerful storm system that rolled through last night, high temperatures in the low 60s NE PA to upper 60s to around 70 along the coast are expected, which is below average and to be expected more so in early October. Winds will continue to be gusty with a pressure gradient between the departing low pressure and approaching high pressure system with NW winds 10-20 mph gusts 25-30
Tonight with clear skies, high pressure in control and dying winds, lows will fall in the upper 30s over NE PA to upper 40s along the coast .
Tomorrows temperatures will be similar to todays just with less winds, highs in the mid 60s to low 70s, lows will be a bit warmer as winds become more Southeast as high pressure moves off the coast with lows in the low 40s to low 50s
A bit of a warm up ahead of the next trough
Friday and Saturday will moderate to near normal levels to possibly slightly above average by Saturday ahead of an approaching cold front, still wont be anything uncomfortably warm and humid with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s Friday and lower 70s to upper 70s Saturday, with continued low humidity.
Saturday night into Sunday, a cold front will come through, not nearly as strong as what we just experienced but scattered showers and maybe isolated thunderstorms will be possible. A very cool air mass will take hold behind this front
By Sunday afternoon, the cold front will clear the coast, highs in the low 60s to low 70s with dropping humidity and breezy conditions expected
Monday and Tuesday will be very cool with highs around 60 in NE PA to mid to upper 60s elsewhere, lows in the mid to upper 30s over NE PA and 40s elsewhere , to around 50 along the immediate coast before moderating back to near normal levels by late week .
