Today is the transition day between what was a warm humid spell into a much colder weather pattern! We have a strong cold front approaching eastern PA that is moving east , there is gusty SW winds and increasing clouds ahead of it and much colder air behind it with gusty North winds
Daily highs today are occurring this morning in he mid 70s, temperatures will ll begin to fall of by 1-2 PM west and 2-4 PM east along with dropping humidity. There will also be some isolated showers along the cold front,
Skies will clear briefly tonight with lows falling into the upper 30s NE PA to mid 40s along the coast. Skies will quickly become cloudy again by day break Sunday though as a storm system approaches from the southwest.
The cold front will slow down and stall over Delaware due to the best dynamics with it lifting NE towards New England, meanwhile an area of low pressure is forming along this front in the Plains, which will come east and bring nasty weather tomorrow, especially tomorrow afternoon and evening
Highs tomorrow will only be in low 40s NE PA to low 50s along the coast with rain developing in the afternoon. Going into tomorrow evening as cold air continues to come in, som wet snow flakes will mix in if your above 1500 feet in elevation between central PA and the Poconos in NE PA , if you are 2000 ft or above in elevation, you could get a quick burst of mainly snow maybe a coating to 1 inch maximum on grassy and cold surfaces, especially more towards Central and NW PA, if you live SE of the Poconos its just going to be cold rain the whole way through
The rain/snow will clear out by late evening Sunday and lows will ll into the low 30s NE PA to low 40s along the coast , mid to upper 30s in western NJ and east PA, tomorrow will feel more like late November.
Monday will be sunny and chilly with highs in the mid 40s NE PA to mid to upper 50s along the coast and lows will fall into the low 30s NE PA to low 40s along the coast
Tuesday through Thursday we will moderate back to near normal levels ahead of a cold front with highs in the mid 50s NE PA to mid 60s along the coast and lows in the low 40s NE PA to mid to upper 40s along the coast
Thursday afternoon the cold front will come through with a reinforcing cold shot Friday through next weekend with highs in the upper 40s in NE PA to mid 50s along the coast and lows back into the low 30s NE PA to upper 30s and low 40s along the coast .
Going into Mid October, I see a lot of ups and downs in temperatures, we will continue to have cold fronts and troughs coming into the east with cool and cold shots of below average temperatures but we will also have warm ups ahead of these cold fronts and troughs to slightly above average temperatures and increasing humidity , and I se this pattern continuing through the end of October , DOMINANT troughs in the east but active with storm systems, and those that track to our west will bring shots of warmth and humidity with them.
