Today, a storm system is forming off the Southeast coast along a cold front off the coast, this low is moving NE and will bring more rain to the area from late afternoon tonight through the early morning hours Tuesday
With overcast skies , highs today will again be held down, with highs in the mid 40s NE PA to mid 50s along the coast, some showers will be moving into the area, by 3-4 PM for Philadelphia and NE PA to 5-7 PM for the NYC metropolitan area. There will be a chilly NNE wind with this storm as well
Showers will turn into a more steady rain in the early evening hours, becoming heavy at times before ending Tuesday morning , rainfall amounts are expected to range anywhere from 1/4 – 3/4 of an inch of rain. Lows tonight will fall into the mid 30s NE PA to the low to mid 40s along the coast
Tuesday , morning showers will be followed by partial clearing, highs in the low 50s NE PA to upper 50s/low 60s along the coast , lows in the low 40s NE PA to the upper 40s along the coast
Wednesday a weak cold front will come through with some moderation to normal levels ahead of it, highs in the low 60s NE PA to upper 60s along the coast, some isolated showers will be possible.
Thursday through Saturday a chilly air mass will be in place with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s NE PA and upper 50s to around 60 along the coast and lows in the low to mid 30s NE PA to low 40s along the coast.
As we head into Sunday an area of low pressure is expected to track into the Great Lakes region, bringing in a warmer humid air mass from Sunday through Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 60s NE PA to upper 60s to low 70s along the coast as the pattern becomes more zonal in nature, because the polar vortex is expected to move toward Alaska, this will mean about a week or so of temperatures around to slightly above normal
This pattern wont stick around too long though, as I believe this is just a relaxation in the overall weather pattern and I believe there will be a strong cold frontal passage sometime between the 18th – 22nd of the month that will bring us back into a cold weather pattern
