Our heat wave broke for many yesterday, leading to some quite comfortable conditions yesterday afternoon and last night , but a more unsettled pattern is beginning to develop and this will lead to a quick return to the humidity today.
We had a cold front dive through the area Saturday afternoon and Sunday which lead to scattered thunderstorms, some of which were severe later Saturday afternoon, the front stalled out over southern NJ which lead to continued storms and heat/humidity over those areas Sunday but northern areas enjoyed a nice day with dropping humidity and comfortable temperatures
Today the front will begin to move north as a warm front as a powerful Bermuda high continues to influence our weather, the flow will turn south and southeast today which will lead to the return of high humidity levels and with the front over the area scattered showers and storms will be possible, the best chance of these will again be over southern NJ and southern portions of the forecast area but could spread a bit farther north later in the afternoon and this evening , highs in northern sections will range from the upper 70s to low 80s mostly, southern areas in the mid to upper 80s
Tomorrow the front from the south will move through the whole area , and with areas of low pressure riding the cold front ,leading to more widespread showers/storms , especially in the afternoon for the whole area although for tomorrow the focus will likely br over northern portions of the forecast area , nothing severe is expected at this time but heavy rain and perhaps flash flooding could be a threat tomorrow afternoon , we will see temperatures in the mid to upper 80s with very high humidity
We will see a cold front drop back south Wednesday which a chance of showers and storms in the morning than likely clearing later in the day , this front will sweep out the humidity and lead to a nice , dry and somewhat cool end to the week between Thursday and Saturday, highs in the mid 70s NE PA to lower to mid 80s elsewhere are expected with lows in the upper 50s NE PA to mid 60s along the coast, unless this cold front decides to do some dirty work and stall over the region again like we have seen so much of this summer
Another disturbance/cold front is expected to come Sunday with rising humidity and the return of scattered to widespread showers and storms , especially in the afternoon which could slow down and make the beginning of next week a bit unsettled before drying out and cooling down to below average temperature levels for much of next week as a deep dip in the jet stream is possible over the east although with such a strong Bermuda high I would like to wait a bit longer before totally jumping on this idea, but it does appear that the weather pattern which has featured abundnat heat and humidity over the past month or so is slowly breaking down.
