This afternoon a pre frontal disturbance has moved through Northern NJ and the NYC metro producing some strong to severe thunderstorms the main event though is still well west of the forecast area with plenty more to come, starting around 4-6 PM in western sections then spreading east towards the coast between 6-10 PM
We see a line of storms over West and Central PA , this is the main event which will bring more widespread thunderstorms later, and things are coming together for isolated severe weather , we will see storms fire ahead of the line as daytime heating continues and gradually come east ward, in the mean time partly to mostly sunny skies with very humid conditions can be expected and high temperatures in the lower to mid 80s for most
The highest threat with these storms later today will be damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH and very heavy rainfall/flash flooding as this is a slow-moving system and thus thunderstorms will be slow-moving
* Areas highlighted in blue are currently under a severe thunderstorm watch*
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for both western sections (Central /NE PA ) and also northeastern sections ( NE NJ points NE to Connecticut and all the way up towards Maine ahead of this cold front so keep an eye to the sky today , and be careful during the evening rush hour, especially if you live in western NJ points west where storms will be most widespread during the rush hour commute and also stay tuned to any warning that may be issued!
