We had our 2nd major winter storm in 3 days come through early this morning with heavy accumulation of snow and ice for much of the area, while most of the storm is over there’s still a few more impacts to under go tonight
For one we have some light precipitation developing over PA , this will move east and periods of freezing drizzle to eventually some snow showers will be possible tonight as our coastal low slowly moves east , this will not have high impact but could add to the ice on trees and lead to some more isolated power issues. Also refrezzing of ice on trees could create more issues
The main concern though is the fact that a wintry mess and temperatures stuck at or slightly above freezing has led to some melting of snow on the roads with A LOT of standing slush and water especially on side roads, and as we see some potential freezing drizzle and temperatures crash below freezing , this slush and water will freeze over quick tonight with localized treacherous driving for tonight and tomorrow morning.
The other issue is thousands of people are without power due to the ice storm with a good amount of cold coming in
Temperatures will remain below freezing through the remainder of the week so this snow and ice is here to stay, black ice will be a concern every night and every morning through the weekend.
We are also watching a storm for Sunday which is likely to bring a light to moderate snow event right now.
