A significant to major winter storm is developing and will impact the forecast area starting tomorrow afternoon and lasting through Monday evening. A cold front will drop south and stall over the Mid Atlantic, along with the clash of air masses along the front, a area of low pressure will also ride the front
Precipitation will fill in from west to east, starting as rain ice and sleet for many then as the cold front crashes through so will temperatures and lead to a changeover the snow for all, as of now the front is expected to stall in such a spot that brings the heaviest precip and thus highest snow accumulations to Central and southern NJ through parts of SE PA , the southern tier of PA and possible down to DC/Baltimore regions, this is still a volatile forecast and changes in the frontal position will be crucial
Here’s the current call, I’m basing this map on expectations of a slight northerly jump of the models based on WV satellite , the polar vortex appears to be retreating a bit faster than modeled, the worst conditions will be from late Sunday night through late Monday afternoon.
If changes will be needed a 2nd call will come out tonight and or tomorrow morning, a final call map will be posted by tomorrow whether we need changes or not
