A major storm system is beginning to impact the forecast area, with a track a bit farther north than anticipated the effects came a bit late but we currently have a 984 mb low over western PA that will track east northeast through around NYC then southern New Egland as the nigh progresses
While we have some widespread rainfall and gusty winds in the warm sector over southern NJ points south, the main impact from this storm will come with the line over Central PA and then after that line passes
As the low heads east that squall line will move east through the area with heavy rain and very windy conditions , there will be isolated severe thunderstorms which are most likely from Philadelphia points south,
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for southern parts of the region, in this area wind gusts up to 60 mph will be possible in thunderstorms but anywhere in the forecast area could see 40+ mph winds when this line crosses through
Once the line passes through and the low passes northeast we will see very strong NW winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 through tomorrow afternoon, many areas will end as at least some snow showers later tonight too as temps rapidly crash through the 30s and 20s , the wind behind the storm may very well be the highest impact we see from this storm system.
