This afternoon a storm system is gearing up to impact the area, the good news is it’s more than warm enough for rain at this point after some areas saw sleet this morning .
We have a Atlantic fetch of moisture beginning to interact with a cold front coming from the west associated with a storm up in the Great Lakes, and a negative tilting trough helping to bring in moisture
The rain is beginning to develop and overspread, it will start off mostly light to moderate but as the front gets closer and we see a low develop right along the coast the rain will intensify and could become quite heavy especially east of the Delaware river throughout NJ/NYC points northeast
Generally anywhere from 0.20-0.50 is expected throughout NE PA and most of the area west of the Delaware River but for extreme SE PA through NJ, NYC and LI a widespread 0.75-1.25 inches of rain is expected , a lot of which will come in a quick shot of heavy rain later this evening. Most of the rain will clear out by sunrise with clearing skies and moderating temps for Thursday into the upper 40s to mid 50s
