After a real soaker of a storm over the weekend and even a surprise moderate snowstorm for some out on LI and in CT this morning , I can safely say we are now heading into a prolonged period of spring like weather with moderating temperatures to near normal overall with a day or 2 slightly above this week and a day or 2 slightly below. Unfortunately if you don’t like rain and clouds along with your spring like warmth your probably not going to be too happy by mid and late week.
Tonight will be the coldest night with low temperatures by early morning being in the upper 20s to mid 30s , once the sun comes up tomorrow though temperatures will rapidly rise into the mid 50s to around 60 under sunshine with broken cloud cover taking over in the afternoon as a weak disturbance comes through, very little to no rain is expected though and tomorrow will be the nicest day of the week most likely, the clouds will break up tomorrow night into early Wednesday with lows in the mid 30s to low 40s
As a front stalls out to our south we will start to see clouds fill back in with waves of showers becoming increasingly likely through the later Wednesday through Saturday time period, starting off as weak scattered and light areas of rain , giving way to widespread heavier waves of rain by Friday, this time period will not be a washout but will overall be cloudy with on and off rain, temperatures will be near normal with highs in 50s for most of the area although some areas of southern NJ and around the Philadelphia metro could get into the 60s if the front stalls north of that area with more sunshine, but for now it is expected to stall south of basically the whole forecast area which will put us more in a Marine influence rather than the very warm air that will be south of the front over the southern Mid Atlantic and Southeast as we get a zonal flow and a bit of riding over the Southeast
We can see by Wednesday night and especially Thursday we have a stationary front to our south and a developing area of low pressure over the Plains with waves of rain coming through, again this will be most likely and most aggressive Thursday through Saturday
The waves of rain may get rather heavy by Friday then the developing storm over the Plains will be the final round of rain which will mostly be later Friday night through Saturday, and drying out for Sunday although there will definitely be morning clouds and chance of rain, Saturday has potential to be a rather warm day depending on how much rain falls with temperatures in the mid 50s to low 60s expected then cooling back to the upper 40s to mid 50s by Sunday which is near or slightly below average, lows will generally be in the upper 30s to mid 40s during this time period
After this storm passes by there will be a rather amped up pattern that develops with storm chances continuing and below average temperatures taking hold again for much of next week, so overall the spring pattern setting up isn’t very pretty although definitely warmer , but that’s just natural as there are no prolonged true warm ups in sight, like those widespread 60s and 70s most people are looking for, and of course we have the threat for rainstorms basically every couple of days.
