Well spring has certainly sprung with very mild temps for most of the forecast area over the last few days and especially today where 70s have become widespread! Of course along the coast and specifically Long Island with these southerly winds off the cold water are much cooler than areas just inland , this will be the theme through the weekend but overall a vast majority of the area is in for a very warm weekend after we get past some showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon and tonight
A weak cold front is stalled out and dissipating over the forecast area , a disturbance riding along this front will start bringing in wet weather over the next several hours and with the warmth there is the threat for some thunderstorms and heavy downpours, this will be gone by the overnight hours into early Saturday morning , generally anywhere from 0.25-0.75 of rain is expected , highest and locally higher amounts in thunderstorms.
Skies may start off cloudy on Saturday but will clear during the afternoon giving way to partly cloudy skies and highs generally in the mid 60s to low 70s , and 50s along the southern shores of Long Island
A ridge will develop well ahead of our next soaker Sunday and Monday with southwest winds continuing and increasing and with that will come very mild air along with increasing humidity with highs both days generally in the upper 60s to mid 70s , the warmest looks to be Monday where a isolated 80 degree readings cannot be ruled out
Clouds and winds will increase Monday night eventually giving way to heavy rain and thunderstorms Tuesday into Wednesday with a very slow moving, powerful cold front and waves of low pressure riding it with 1.5-3 inches of rain expected , this front will bring in much cooler air by Wednesday.
