The first week of September we have been making up for some lost summer heat but the heat and humidity is on it’s final days as a major but gradual pattern shift will bring fall like conditions by Sunday and eventually some well below normal temperatures by later next week
Today as humidity is being transported into the area clouds have taken hold throughout a good chunk of the area, I do expect at least some clearing during the afternoon but the clouds will likely keep temperatures cooler than originally expected with highs more likely in the lower to mid 80s rather than widespread upper 80s and isolated low 90s, any areas that are clear now or clear up this afternoon will get into the mid to upper 80s but for most it looks like the clouds are going to be locked in for a while, still very humid conditions will be in place, tonight variable to partly cloudy skies are expected with lows in the mid 60s to low 70s
Saturday will start off dry and very humid but more unsettled and stormy weather will be likely by the afternoon, highs will be in the mid 80s to low 90s depending on the amount of sunshine a location may see, the best threat for storms will come between 2 pm and 10 pm from west to east , area away from the coast have the threat of strong to isolated severe storms, especially the Hudson valley, NW NJ and NE PA.
This cold front will transport much cooler and drier air by Sunday morning, where highs will struggle to get out the 70s and lows will dip into the 50s for most
Monday and Tuesday look cool dry and comfortable with highs in the lower to mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s to mid 50s with upper 50s in the urban area.
Through the week a unsettled and somewhat cool weather pattern will be in place, a coastal storm system will bring the threat of overcast skies, raw easterly winds and showery weather , especially to coastal areas by Wednesday, a very strong cold front will follow by Thursday and Friday with widespread thunderstorms and heavy rain possible, this is the front that will transport a chilly Airmass into the area with only mid 60s to low 70s highs and widespread 40s to low 50s for lows by the end of the week
