December just like many of the previous months averages well above normal , record warmth has been in place the last few days and the month so far averages 7-11 degrees above normal. The weather pattern is becoming more active but the warmth will generally hold a tight grip on the east for the foreseeable future, which means a lot of rainfall
Today will be mild and breezy with temperatures staying steady in the 50s, a WNW breeze behind last nights storm system around 15-25 mph. Tonight winds will diminish with lows mid 30s to low 40s
Wedsneday will be cooler but still above normal with highs in the mid 40s to low 50s , clouds will increase Wednesday night and possible drizzle ahead of the next storm system, low pressure will track towards the Great Lakes bringing southeast winds warm conditions and heavy rainfall.
The cold front will approach Thursday with low pressure developing along it a steady moderate to heavy rain is expected through the day with highs in the 50s lows in the 40s, about 0.75-1.5 inches is expected
A brief cold shot will knock temps down to near or slightly below normal with highs in the 30s and low 40s, lows in the 20s for Friday through Sunday
Another storm system will begin developing over the Plains by Monday, this will pump up more ridging in the east with warm but potentially very wet conditions for the week of Christmas as the system stalls over the east
Monday will be the nicest day of the week with cler skies and highs returning to the 50s for most and lows in the 30s
Tuesday winds will turn back to the south with increasing clouds and highs in the mid to upper 50s, fog and drizzle will be possible especially during the overnight hours
Wednesday the system will very slowly come eastward bringing showers and gusty south winds especially later in the day with highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s
The cold front will approach Christmas Eve with heavy rain and near record high temperatures in the 60s some may even hit !
The front is expected to stall near the area and periods of rain , heavy at times will be possible through Christmas Day just a bit cooler, this storm system could bring several inches of rainfall
The pattern looks to stay mild but active through the end of December
