We are starting to enter a colder pattern, and we can tell cause for once, we are going to go A WHOLE WEEK without reaching the 50s !!! This week will be seasonable for the first half then slowly down to below average by the weekend, with even a chance of snow thrown in mid-late week.
For today overcast sky’s, and area of weak low pressure is passing well south but far enough north to bring cloudy skies and I can’t rule out a rain /snow shower for NYC area through late tonight, SNJ south of Trenton will have a much better chance at getting rain and snow showers tonight, maybe a coating. Lows tonight 25-32
For super bowl sunday this storm system will be gone and out to sea, skies will clear with seasonal temps, highs 38-45, lows tomorrow night 23-30
In Indianapolis, similar conditions as here with highs around 45 and lows in the upper 20s expected with clear skies
Back to our area, Monday and Tuesday sunny skies will remain as dominant Canadian high pressure takes hold with highs again 40-47 and lows 23-30, a bit warmer ahead of a cold front
The cold front will come through Tuesday night lows 20-29
Wednesday, highs behind the front 35-40 lows 20-29
Thursday we are watching a potential weak coastal low that may bring some light snow or snow showers to the area, the Euro shows a light snow event, and the GFS shows some scattered snow showers so ill be watching that
After this potential storm and going into the weekend, some changes are going to be taking place in the 500 mb pattern.
The polar vortex that has been too far north to impact us and has been keeping winter locked up in Canada, is forecast to come south and bring some COLD weather to the East. Meanwhile, the models also say hello to a negative NAO blocking pattern, so if this happens the cold would be sustained. We are also watching a potential Miller A storm or basically nor’easter for next weekend on the models, way to early for details but the pattern looks very good right now, ill keep you updated on that as well
But for now, overall a tranquil and seasonal week is expected, and ill be watching out for Thursdays potential snow and into next weekend and ill also be keeping an eye on the potential cold coming up as well
